TRUE SONSHIP UNDER DIVINE PARENTAGE
I think the clause ‘I’m a child of God’ is actually not new, we might at one situation declare that statement in affirmation of probably – our salvation or in response to a temptation. The statement to me, is not the deal but, the genuineness of that affirmation beyond being saved.
Pardon my choice of words, Christianity of today now accommodates a bunch of bastards claimed ‘sonship’ of the divine parentage. Let me tackle the situation for a proper angle. Can we quickly refer to the Scripture in Genesis 27:18-24
’18 So he went to his father and said, My father. And he said, Here am I; who are you, my son?
19 And Jacob said to his father, I am Esau your firstborn; I have done what you told me to do. Now sit up and eat of my game, so that you may proceed to bless me.
20And Isaac said to his son, How is it that you have found the game so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the Lord your God caused it to come to me.
21But Isaac said to Jacob, Come close to me, I beg of you, that I may feel you, my son, and know whether you really are my son Esau or not.
22So Jacob went near to Isaac, and his father felt him and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
23 He could not identify him, because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s hands; so he blessed him.
24 But he said, Are you really my son Esau? He answered, I am.
Here, Jacob took a wrong identity under a secular parentage to claim what I term ‘ Substandard Blessings’.
This is the situation of many Christians today who unclaimed or disregard their divine identity for earthly treasures, they renounce their faith for pleasures anew take upon situational identity that suit their emotions forgetting that we live in the World but does not belong to the world.
Permit me to ask you, who are you in Christ? Haven’t you compromise to achieve what your flesh desires which is contrary to the will of God for your life.
What really happens when you can claim your true sonship in Christ. See Genesis 32:24-29
’24 And Jacob was left alone, and a Man wrestled with him until daybreak.
25 And when [the [a]Man] saw that He did not prevail against [Jacob], He touched the hollow of his thigh; and Jacob’s thigh was put out of joint as he wrestled with Him.
26 Then He said, Let Me go, for day is breaking. But [Jacob] said, I will not let You go unless You declare a blessing upon me.
27 [The Man] asked him, What is your name? And [in shock of realization, whispering] he said, Jacob [supplanter, schemer, trickster, swindler]!
28 And He said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob [supplanter], but Israel [contender with God]; for you have contended and have power with God and with men and have prevailed.(B)
29Then Jacob asked Him, Tell me, I pray You, what [in contrast] is Your name? But He said, Why is it that you ask My name? And [b][the Angel of God declared] a blessing on [Jacob] there.
After he claimed his real self, a turnaround follows. Compare Gen 27: 19 and Gen 32:27.
Know Who You Are and Stand in Christ Alone.
You ain’t a duplicate.
You ain’t made inferior.
Christianity is not a licence to mediocrity.
